STUDENT GOES 90 DAYS WITHOUT CELLPHONE

A 24-year-old student at the Chicago Portfolio School who went 90 days without his cell phone said that starting out was the hardest part. Jake Reilly ended up giving up social media as well, because he felt he might turn to it in place of a cell phone. He said, "All of a sudden, you get home on a Friday night and there's no one around and it's just you and your thoughts. Very scary." Eventually, Reilly found he became more active without a cell phone. He explained, "I rode my bike all over the city. I made collages. I did puzzles. I did all these things that I normally never would have considered. And you know what, I loved all that."
