KBLX has served the Bay Area for over 25 years and our commitment to community service is unwavering. By providing on-air time for Public Service Announcements daily, we offer nonprofit organizations an opportunity not only to reach the people they serve, but to reach the people who would like to help. We also produce our popular community affairs program, Bayview.

Please follow the guidelines below if you would like to submit your Public Service Announcement for consideration or if you would like to submit your nonprofit organization for a guest slot on Bayview.

Academic Foundation for International Cultural Exchange

Alameda County Library - Write to Read Adult Literacy Program

The Alameda County Library Write to Read Adult Literacy program needs volunteers to help adult learners improve their reading, writing and comprehension skills. Make a difference by leading a small group or providing individual tutoring. Tutors must be English speakers, 18 and older, no degrees necessary. If you have a couple of hours per week and are patient and enjoy helping others take positive steps with their reading and writing, this is the volunteer job for you. The American Red Cross

Bay Area Women Against Rape

BAWAR, the nation's first rape crisis center was started in 1971 was started in an effort toe effect changes in the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to offer support and counseling.  Their 24 hour hotline is 510-845-7273.  All of BAWAR's direct client services are free of charge and confidential.


Berkeley Adult School

Berkeley East Bay Humane Society

Volunteers are needed to help with dogs in the Adoption Center. Work includes daily care, such as walking, training, feeding, and kennel cleaning; training is provided.  Positions are available 7 days a week, primarily during the hours of 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. call 510-845-7735, ext. 13, or visit

Black Adoption Placement and Research Center (BAPRC)

Black Adoption Placement and Research Center (BAPRC) is a private, non-profit agency founded in 1983. Their services are provided to families residing in 14 Northern California counties. They are a licensed adoption and foster family agency (FFA) dedicated to recruiting permanent loving families from the community from which the disproportionate number of waiting children come - the African American community. BAPRC places an emphasis on advocating on behalf of children with special needs who might otherwise spend their entire childhoods in foster care. Hospice of the East Bay - Anna's Program

Wardrobe for Opportunity

Wardrobe for Opportunity receives referrals of qualified clients from over 70 partner social service agencies that are actively helping jobseekers prepare for and find jobs. During an initial appointment with a volunteer ‘personal shopper,’ a client receives two complete outfits including shoes and accessories for their upcoming interview. Once the client has been offered employment, they can return to WFO for a ‘working wardrobe’, which consists of enough clothing to dress for the first few weeks of work.
